Lyndon Smith


With an impressive proven track record of 30 (+) years as a seasoned Benefits Adviser, Lyndon Smith, as President of EPSI Benefits, Inc., oversees business development, ongoing quality control of service, and is ultimately responsible for EPSI meeting all it's commitments. As the former owner of a Third Party Administration (TPA) firm, also for 30 (+) years, Lyndon is experienced in the various aspects of Self-Funding and Administrative Support services. 


In his key leadership role, he believes that EPSI's long term success hinges on serving clients with unsurpassed attention to design, communication and management of each clients employee benefits. He also provides client management with guidance and counsel in making crucial benefits decisions.


Lyndon and his team of highly experienced professionals bring tremendous focus and creativity in planning and negotiating each client's Group Health, Ancillary and 401K contracts. As part of this daily effort, he states "We take great pride in accomplishing our primary objective, which is to to help our clients achieve the level of benefits they envision providing their employees, while securing their corporate bottom line cost."


Lyndon is a BBA Graduate of the University of Houston, a lifetime member of both Houston's 100 Club and Livestock Show and Rodeo as well as serves on the Board of Directors for the Fire Firefighters Foundation of Houston.

Karen Hupe

   

Karen oversees all internal operations and client services. Her unique perspective of client support needs allows EPSI to provide multiple levels of service normally not provided by Broker/Consultants. In addition, her problem solving skills assists clients in resolving complex carrier and/or insurance related personnel issues. 


Prior to joining EPSI in 1996, Karen honed her insurance skills and knowledge for 10 years at Rust, Ewing, Watt and Haney Insurance Agency, where she also earned her CSR designation in Personal and Commercial Lines, as well. 


Her extensive familiarity with various funding methods, fully insured, ASO and Self Funding, as well as, her knowledge of multiple carriers, their products and services gives EPSI the ability to assist clients with any and all aspects of their group insurance needs.

Stephanie Smith Kaithakottil


Stephanie joined EPSI Benefits in 2003. She is responsible for overseeing the day to day Account Management responsibilities and operations of the EPSI Benefits Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers, as well as managing her personal book of business.


Prior to joining EPSI, Stephanie was a brokerage Account Manager for two (2) years with a leading Houston Life and Brokerage Agency, working on both small and large group Insurance Plans.  This was preceded by her three (3) years of experience as an Account Manager for the Aetna Insurance Company.

Paul Urbanek

    

Paul is an experienced benefits consultant with over 30 years experience. He is a specialist in designing, pricing, negotiating, and implementing benefit programs to meet and exceed the client’s goals. 


Paul's practice areas include employee benefits, executive life insurance, retirement plans, Medicare consultation and regulatory compliance adherence. His experience helps position EPSI as a premier provider of employee benefit solutions.

L. Alex Smith


Alex joined the EPSI team in 2008 and oversees the day to day sales and marketing as a Broker/ Consultant for large and small groups. Alex maintains a close relationship with his current clients located in Texas as well as Nationally. Alex has also worked in the individual market and led the Southwest as a top sales producer.


Before joining EPSI, Alex was a Firefighter/ EMT for the city of Houston and Katy. "I have had the great opportunity to help my community. Even though I am in a completely different industry, the goal is the same... to help people. Now, I help my clients and potential clients find the best benefits to attract and retain talented individuals."
